Stanford University Founding Story – True Story
We convey to you real events narrated by “Malcolm Forbes” about the story of the founding of Stanford University in memory of the son who died in a tragic accident. The names of the “Stanford” family are still engraved in the yards and buildings of the university to this day.
The Story of the Founding of the Ancient Stanford University
The train stopped at a station in the American city of Boston, and a couple in simple clothes got out of it. The wife was wearing a cotton dress, while the husband was wearing a modest suit he had made with his hands. With timid and slow steps, the couple went directly to the office of the president of “Harvard University“, and they had not obtained an appointment in advance.
The director of the university president’s office said to the rural couple: “The president is very busy,” and he will not be able to meet you soon… But soon the rural lady’s response came to her, as she said confidently: “We will wait for him.”
The couple kept waiting for long hours, during which the secretary completely neglected them, hoping that they would lose hope and the enthusiasm shown on their faces and leave.
The couple had attended – it seems – for a fundamental matter. But with time, and the insistence of the couple, the secretary’s anger began to escalate, so she decided to interrupt her boss, and begged him to meet them for a few minutes so that they might leave.
The President Shook His Head Angrily
And showed signs of resentment. Those in his position do not find time to meet and meet except the elite of the people. In addition to that, he hates shabby cotton clothes and everyone who is in the form of a peasant. But he agreed to see them for a few minutes so that they would have to leave. When the couple entered the president’s office, the lady told him that they had a son who studied at ” Harvard”.
After a year, he died in an accident, and since he was happy “during the time he spent in this prestigious university, they decided to donate to the university to immortalize the name of their son.
The president was not very affected by what the lady said but rather replied roughly: “Madam, we cannot build a building. And we commemorate everyone who studied at Harvard and then died, otherwise the university would turn into a forest of buildings and memorials.
Founding of the Prestigious Stanford University
The lady replied: We do not want to erect a statue, rather we want to donate a building that bears his name to Harvard University. But these words did not find any resonance with the President, so he looked at the cotton dress and the tattered suit with angry eyes and replied sarcastically:
“Do you have an idea how much it costs to build such a building?! The university buildings cost us more than seven and a half million dollars!” There was silence for a while, during which the chief thought he could now get rid of the couple,
And here the lady turned around and said to her husband: “Mr. Stanford: As long as this is the cost of establishing a complete university, why don’t we establish a new university bearing the name of our son?” The husband shook his head in agreement.
The couple left Stanford in the midst of the distraught and disappointment of the president and traveled to California, where they founded the prestigious Stanford University. The university still bears their family name and commemorates their son, who was not worth anything to the president of Harvard, and this happened in 1884 AD.
Summary
Really: It is always important to hear, and if we hear to understand and listen, and whether we hear or not, we mustn’t judge people by their appearance, clothes, accent, and way of speaking. And it is important that we never read a book by its title, even if it was priced in 1884 at seven million dollars.
